My reason for purchasing this was the fact that my PC only has one USB3 port on the back. After buying a set of USB powered LED lights I was going to be left with no spare ports on the rear and this little unit sits perfectly on top of the tower to give 4 extra USB3 ports.
The packaging was great as it came inside a bubble wrap bag which was then packed inside an anti-static bag for the best protection. The unit is 2.5″ (65mm) square with the input port on one side and 2 output ports on 2 other sides. It has small rubber pads on the base to prevent it from sliding about. It also came with a USB cable to connect it to the computer. This cable looks very well made and is of a good thickness to make it last. The cable is around 23″ (600mm) long so the unit can be placed within easy reach without stretching the cable.
The unit is also very easy to install as it requires no drivers so all you need to do is plug it in and away you go. There is also a 5 volt input point on it so that it could be powered via that rather than draw power from the computer, this is useful if you are using it with a laptop and want to avoid draining the battery. The power unit for this needs to be bought separately. I have plug many different USB devices into this hub and nothing so far has not worked or been dropped or lost during use.
The hub can be used on PC and Mac.
